Horseshoe Bend

Have you even visited Arizona if you haven’t taken a picture of Horseshoe Bend?

As one of the most photographed sites in Arizona, it doesn’t take much for someone to see a picture and recognize the bend in the Colorado River.

Because of its unique shape and notorious image, it is not uncommon for Horseshoe Bend to be filled with visitors.

A place well equipped for tourists, information about the hike can be acquired after paying to park in a lot with access to the path, and with all the signs, it is impossible to miss. Horseshoe Bend is about four and a half hours from Phoenix, so we decided it was the perfect place to stop and stretch our legs on our road trip to Utah.

A dirt trail guides the hike, making it more of a relaxing hike than a difficult one. Although the trail isn’t very long, it is hard to explain how much anticipation builds while winding down to see the bend.

Once you finally get to the end and look down, what you see is quite breathtaking.

No matter how many great pictures you have seen of this place, I promise you they pale in comparison to the image you will see right in front of you.

The whole detour added about an hour onto our road trip, but when you decide you’re not in a rush to get anywhere, you allow more time for experiences like these.

Horseshoe Bend also offers flightseeing tours, rafting, and a variety of paddling tours. With the city of Page being filled with so many other great natural beauties to see, a trip to this part of Northern Arizona wouldn’t be wasted.
